WHAT WERE WE THINKIN'

Just so you know, after taking a year away from my need to vent, I have to do my Vesuvius while praying that our society will pluck itself out of the quicksand of ignorance.  Regardless of the reasons and or the truth of the last Presidential election, our people need to refresh the understanding of cause and effect.

There is a saying, “Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth”.  For those of you who are not old enough to know the art of horse trading, the sense of that is if it’s free don’t question its’ usefulness. Too bad for the recipient of the free old horse, it died the next day leaving a pile of rotting horseflesh to be cleaned up.  I fear a similar outcome resulting from our past presidential election process.

CAUSE: We changed leaders in our country’s executive branch because of a personality and a perception that was media driven.  A majority of our society neglected the due diligence part of our responsibility.  The media became a propaganda machine, no longer protecting truth and fact.  For the first time, in my lifetime, we were denied the opportunity of a robust campaign that would allow us to compare the two candidates.  Instead we saw what we eventually elected, a person that hid behind the press, protecting his fifty years of feckless political prowess as a member of the United States Senate, and as Vice President under President Obama.

EFFECT:  We traded a President that was strong and productive for one that is proving to be weak, ineffective and dangerous; GOP’S loss of congressional control by giving the new Vice President the deciding vote in Congress; the loss of self-sufficiency of energy production; increased volume of illegal drug trafficking; weakening of border control; weakening of our military; increase in deficit spending in trillions of dollars, just to name a few.  What’s really sad is the fact that each of those effects will become eventual causes..
