I’m 100% in favor of freedom of speech and that freedom goes
for everyone under the protective wings of the American Eagle. I do have to complain just a little when
television advertises an award show for entertainment suppliers and it turns
into a political whinefest. There is
little love lost between the majority of the acting profession and the next
President of the United States, and if I wanted their opinions on politics it
wouldn’t be on an award show.
What took place during the show was pretty much as expected
as many millions of dollars poured into Hillary fiasco from this very partisan
bunch of entertainers. They should
probably stick to their profession as half of our countries population don’t
agree with their politics. Ticking off
that 60 million people just doesn’t make good marketing sense. In most professions it would probably revive
the term “You’re Fired”.
In terms of bravery and speaking out against any
conservative I find it to be kind of chicken hearted as it’s really easy to
pander to the choir when you have no opposition present. Awards for progressive slams to the incoming
Winning party go to a wide variety of talented entertainers and whiny
progressive Sag members. Jimmy Fallon
is excused from the group because his form of entertainment is expected to take
shots at everybody, "This is the
Golden Globes. One of the few places left in America that still honors the
popular vote." Hugh Laurie could make remarks
regarding his country of origin, England, in stead of this adroit statement "I suppose [my win is] made more amazing by
the fact that I'll be able to say that I won this at the last ever Golden
Globes. I don't mean to be gloomy. It's just that it has the words 'Hollywood,'
'foreign,' and 'press' in the title. I also think that to some Republicans,
even the word 'association' is slightly sketchy." There was no shortage of commentary on
politics, racism, and intolerance of Muslim and Mexican immigration, legal or
otherwise.
The speech getting the most ink and eye time is the one by
one of my favorite actors Meryl Streep. I respect her acting and her body of work
but not so much her political stance. I
have to admit my admiration for her took a bit of a hit last night when she
used her vast reaching platform to disrupt rather than heal our country. I found it all quite hypocritical. I get the use of the usual Democratic
Progressive talking points, but where was she during all of the Hillary and
Obama disregard and respect for all of us onery deplorable conservatives. Where was she regarding fast and furous,
Benghazi, the mis-use of Clinton cash donations, and the lies this last
administration foisted upon our people?
Oh, lest I forget to mention, Clinton calling half of our country
deplorable in a litany of name calling. Where
is her point of view ranting when it comes to the war on the streets of Chicago
or the rampage of assisinations of our first responders. Stick to acting Meryl.
Not all Americans see the election of the 45th
President as a precursor of doom and gloom, a lot of us see a chance that our
country can once again lead from the front rather than the donkey
position. Just as Obama had his chance,
to improve racial conditions in our country, this group of entertainers
mis-used their platform. They missed an
opportunity to heal a country that is in need of healing.
Pray for our country.
Love your neighbor, Pray for peace.
Pray for the safety of our next President Donald J. Trump
